| How To Find Us : Challoch Farm is about 2½ miles north of Newton Stewart on the A714, just short of the turning for Challoch Church. As the A714 is also the main street through Newton Stewart, it is easily reached from the A75 Dumfries-Stranraer road. At its northern end, the A714 goes through Barrhill and reaches the A77 Ayr road just south of Girvan. The nearest railway station is at Barrhill, and the nearest international airports are at Prestwick and Glasgow. |

We're a popular base for those wanting to explore the Galloway Forest Park and in particular the outstanding beauty of Glen Trool. The Merrick, at 2764ft / 843m, is the highest summit in the Southern Uplands .On a clear day, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding Galloway Hills, the highlands and islands of Scotland, Northern Ireland the Isle of Man and north west coast of England. |

| Birdwatching and Wildlife
The area is a haven for wildlife. Red and roe deer abound, otters, peregrines, buzzards and even wild goats are all at home in the hills and not an uncommon site. The RSPB Reserve at Wood of Cree is only minutes away as is the Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve, internationally important for a wide variety of wildfowl. An hours pleasant drive will take you to Scotland's most southerly point and the RSPB Bird Sanctuary on the Mull of Galloway. |

| Gardens Our mild climate provides ideal growing conditions for some of the loveliest gardens in Scotland. Described as a 'mecca for gardenlovers' there are numerous to explore and draw inspiration from. Guests are continually amazed to see tender species from all around the world growing in the open at the exotic Logan Botanic Gardens. Equally inspiring are the gardens of Castle Kennedy, Glenwhan and Threave, especially in late May/June when Rhododendrons, Azaleas and Magnolias are in full bloom. |

| Fishing The famous Salmon fishing River Cree lies adjacent to the farm and runs on through Newton Stewart. Sea Angling and a good selection of stocked and wild freshwater lochs are all available nearby. Game Shops in the town will be happy to supply all the relevant details and permits. |

| Golfing Dumfries and Galloway is home to over 30 Golf Courses. Newton Stewart's 18 hole parkland course is 3 miles from Challoch and offers 'a variety of challenges for golfers of all standards'. It has commanding views of Wigtown Bay as does the smaller 9 hole parkland course at Wigtown, 'a haven for those seeking a relaxing round of golf. On the coast, 3 miles south of Port William, i the extremely picturesque but 'tricky little 9 hole course with plenty of interest' at St Medans. The 'County' Golf Club 15 miles to the west at Glenluce is a true links 18hole course situated on the shores of scenicLuce Bay. |
